Dental crowns or “caps” cover the entire surface of a damaged tooth.  Dental crowns are made of porcelain (ceramic), metal or a combination of both and may last up to 5 years or more.  Please read about the Cerec®  crowns that Dr. Ilawan makes in the office while you wait.  Occasionally he chooses the traditional porcelain fused to metal crowns which are made in an outside lab.

Once you have your new dental crown, there should not be any discomfort.  If the tooth has not had a root canal, there is a possibility of experiencing sensitivity to hot or cold.  If there is pain or discomfort while biting, then the crown needs to be adjusted.  Please contact our office to schedule this quick appointment.
